The Bassett Research Institute is pleased to introduce our interns for the summer season!
Liam and Sharon will be working with the Center for Rural Community Health, while Emily will be working with the Center for Clinical Research.

Liam Altschul – Administrative Intern
Liam attends The College of New Jersey and returns for his last semester this fall. He is pursuing a double major of Clinical Psychology and Interpersonal Communication with a minor in Sociology. He is working towards a graduate degree, specifically a Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology) in Clinical Psychology, to become a Clinical Psychologist. Liam’s goals for working at Bassett this summer are to gain further research and clinical public health experience, specifically through implementing CRCH’s collected data to help create and establish programs to improve the health of residents of all ages in rural communities.
Sharon Poon – Administrative Intern
Sharon is a junior at New York University. She is on the Pre-Med track with a Biology major and Chemistry minor. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree while gaining experience through research, clinical, and community-based opportunities. At NYU, she gained laboratory experience in organic chemistry and molecular biology techniques. As a summer research intern, Sharon hopes to broaden her understanding of public health and community-focused research, learn how research and data analysis can directly impact communities and improve health outcomes, and connect her scientific background with her passion for improving community health.
Emily Victoria Silchuk – Administrative Intern
Emily Victoria starts her junior year in August at Utica University. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a dual major in Biochemistry and Business Management. Her internship goals include gaining as much exposure to the process of clinical trials on the administrative side of things. Emily Victoria is currently exploring a couple of possibilities for her career, the most prominent being an MSL with a focus on the expansion of biotech/biomed into Eastern Europe.
